Rie Akamatsu began her piano studies at the age of four.
She graduated at the top of her class from the High school of Kunitachi College of music in Tokyo, Japan and she performed Mozart piano concerto with the orchestra.
She has been awarded in competitions, Japan piano audition of piano teachers association, Japan classic music competition and Saitama piano competition.
In 2011 she graduated her Bachelor’s degree from the Kunitachi College of music in Tokyo under Nobuko Kondo with highest honor and she received the Takeoka Prize. She performed in numerous concerts in Japan. She played also chamber music and Lied.
Since 2011 she has studying her Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany under Vassily Lobanov and Ilja Scheps. She studied chamber music with Christian Beldi, Harald Schoneweg, Ralph Manno and Anthony Spiri.
In May 2012 she performed as “New World Trio” at the German WDR3 Classic-Radio. She is a recipient of a scholarship Saitama-city. She participated in master classes of Michel Beroff, Yves Henry, Dang Thai Son, Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Dina Yoffe.
