David Nie, 17 years old, was born in Houston, Texas. He has studied piano since the age of five, and is currently a student of John Weems.
David is a National YoungArts Foundation Winner in Classical Music/Piano in both 2014 and 2015, a National Finalist in the 2014 MTNA Senior Piano Competition, the Grand Prize Winner of the 2013 McKinney Young Artist Competition, and the Winner of the American Protégé International Competition in Piano and Strings 2012, and winner in the romantic music category in 2013. He has performed in such important venues as Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall in New York City.
Besides piano, David is also the concertmaster of 2014 TMEA All-Region Symphony Orchestra and a first violinist in the 2013 Honor Orchestra of America. He is passionate about community service, performing regularly at nursing homes and hospitals. He also loves photography, singing, and a new adventure.
David is going to start his college studies at Princeton University in the fall.
