Miwako Miki was born in Japan and gave her first public performance in Kansas City (USA) at the age of seven. She went on to win prizes in numerous competitions in Japan, including 1st prize in the Student Music Concours of Japan which is one of the country’s biggest competitions for young musician.
Having completed her undergraduate studies at the Geidai, Tokyo National University, Miwako moved to London in 2008 in order to study privately with Professor Frank Wibaut. Since then, she has been a prize winner in numerous competitions that include 3rd prize in the Norah Sande Award Piano Competition in Eastbourne, 1st prize in the President Prize Competition, 2nd prize in Emmanuel Trophy Piano Competition in North London Festival, reaching the finals in the Chopin Competition in Salzburg Mozarteum Summer Academy and 1st prize in the Hastings Piano Concerto Competition with her performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1. She performed with orchestras such as Finchely Chamber Orchestra and Sussex Concert Orchestra. Miwako has also been awarded an Honory FLCM ,after giving recital at Fairlight Hall in Hastings.
As a soloist, Miwako has performed all over the world; throughout Japan, in the USA and in Europe and continues to receive many invitations to perform in the UK and in Japan.
Miwako is currently working towards Master’s degree at Royal Northern College of Music under tutelage of Professor Frank Wibaut. During studying there she had received several opportunities such as playing at BBC3 , “In Tune”, Recital at Yamaha Music London and most recently, full evening recital at Bemrose Bursary Recital.She has also received guidance from eminent musicians such as Vladimir Tropp, Bruno Riggtto, Philippe Giusiano, Gilead Mishory, Michael Beroff, Nelson Goerner and Jean Efflam Bavouzet.
