Nataliya Nizhalova, a violinist of Russian origin, regularly performs as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. She has given solo recitals in the United States, Russia, Holland and Ukraine.
Ms. Nizhalova has been awarded a number of prizes from various national and international competitions. These include Second Prize in Matinee Musicale Collegiate Competition (Indianapolis, USA), First Prize in the International Competition "Art of the 21th Century" (Lisbon, Portugal), Second Prize in the International Competition "Musica-Classica" (Russia).
As an active chamber musician Ms. Nizhalova has performed with the members of Cincinnati Symphony and Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. She has been a founding member of the Russian string quartet “Cantando” which becomes widely recognized in Russia. The quartet has a strong commitment to performing modern music and recently has been appointed as a partner of the Russian Composer Association.
Her experience as an orchestral player includes working regularly with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Anderson Symphony Orchestra, Kokomo Symphony Society. Before coming to the USA she held the position of Assistant Concertmaster of the N. Novgorod Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra.
She has appeared at numerous music festivals including National Repertory Orchestra (Colorado), Round Top Summer Music Institute (Texas), International Holland Music Session (Holland), Music in European Castles (Lithuania).
Ms. Nizhalova holds her BM and MM from N. Novgorod State Conservatory (Russia).
Currently she is working towards a Doctor of Arts degree at Ball State University under Anna Vayman, where she is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
